Art
I don’t consider myself an artist. Though I have always enjoyed art - wandering museums, doodling mehndi patterns, watching others work, or snapping photographs - it has only been recently that I’ve actively experimented. I tend to dichotomize; separating the process from the end result, the line from the color, the message from the form. I love to lose myself in detailed patterns, boldly experiment with color, carefully sketch and render, create for the experience itself; I appreciate the communicative power of art. Every piece I create is a form of communication, though the conversation is often with myself. My biggest struggle has been to reassemble these pieces, purposes, aims and processes into coherency - coherency on a schedule, as I battle my tendency to work slowly.

IB Art Show, April 2007
The evaluation process for the International Baccalaureate Art program requires each student to create an art show. I designed and built (with help - a great deal of help! - from my family) a set to show our work; I constructed a cabana from the ground up, creating the flats, plastering, staining and installing wood-paneling, and laying linoleum. While most of my pieces were from my trip to Tanzania, my focus was perspective and viewpoint.
Pictures coming soon.
